The RSAMD is Scotland 's only Conservatoire, providing the highest quality training in music and drama for around 600 students.

As part of their training, students undertake a varied schedule of concerts, operas and plays, all performed to members of the public. This makes us one of the busiest performing arts venues in Scotland with over 360 performances a year.

Well-known alumni from the School of Drama include Ian Richardson, Tom Conti, John Hannah, Robert Carlyle, Greg Wise, Phyllis Logan, Billy Boyd, Ruby Wax and Hannah Gordon. And from the School of Music : Judith Howarth, Margaret Marshall, Neil Mackie, Anthony Michaels-Moore, Malcolm Martineau, Mark- Anthony Turnage and Patrick Doyle.

Our Aims

The aim of the RSAMD is to produce musicians, actors, and a range of performing arts professionals well equipped to undertake professional careers both nationally and internationally. All our staffing, our strategy and policies are geared towards this.

Our purpose built facilities provide excellent resources for our students, and a strong base from which our staff work.
