Role description:
Your brief will be to provide the business, and the group, with financial information to allow the management team to direct and manage the business effectively, providing financial support and direction.
Main Responsibilities
• To ensure that financial accounts are maintained in accordance with all relevant accounting standards.
• Responsible for the management and development of 8 - 10 full time members of staff and the delivery of their tasks to the business.
• Ensure best practice is applied throughout the finance department in relation to all tasks, covering daily, weekly and monthly reporting, working capital & cash management, purchase and sales ledger management, payroll, general admin duties and reception.
• Provide financial advice to senior management on a variety of issues as they arise.
• Part of key site strategic planning team, evaluating opportunities and presenting financial business plans.
• Responsible for ensuring that all reports, internal to the company, group wide and those to external parties are completed accurately and timeously.
• Responsible for the updating of the salaried staff costs forecast, ensuring confidentiality is maintained.
• Provide a monthly finance report, highlighting all the major issues during the month and challenges and opportunities facing the business in the future or included within the monthly forecast.
• Work with Senior and Middle Management to ensure that budgets are met. Ensure that the relevant finance teams are providing useful, timely information to managers to ensure that decisions can be made.
• Provide a detailed annual budget, with notes and year on year comparators and bridges, having challenged all contributors to ensure that it represents a fair view of the coming year. Present to the site Managing Director and, upon agreement, present to The Seafood Company board, along with the Managing Director.
• Responsible for the production of year end accounts and the provision of clear audit files to enable a speedy and easy year end.
• Ensure that all relevant parties are involved in the monthly forecasting process and that the forecast has a clear audit trail to previous forecasts.
Who we're looking for:
To be successful you will be a qualified Accountant with a proven management track record. You will have the ability to work on your own initiative with no supervision and prioritise workload to meet tight deadlines and objectives, even when under pressure. You will be a leader who inspires their team and motivates themselves and others.
In addition, you will be more than an Accountant. You will enjoy working closely with the business and undertaking general management responsibilities.
