Title: Data Processing Manager – WS/659 Location: UK – Aberdeen Job Status: Permanent Start Date: ASAP Interview Date: ASAP Open To: EU Citizens or UK work permit holders Job Overview: A leading provider of Controlled Source Electromagnetic (CSEM) Imaging services seeks a Data Processing Manager to manage their Data Processing and Integrated Services and Consulting group. The Company welcomes applications from candidates with a strong background in seismic or CSEM processing, and management, supervisory or team lead experience. With offices in Aberdeen, KL, Oslo and Houston, the Company provides services that include acquisition, processing and interpretation of CSEM data for the global Offshore Oil and Gas industry. CSEM has been used for over 20 years to examine hydrothermal and volcanic systems on mid-ocean ridges. The oil and gas industry is increasingly recognising the value of CSEM and adopting this technology to reduce exploration risk. The Company’s growing data analysis services include the processing and interpretation of marine CSEM/MT data, Through a recent acquisition, the Company is moving towards providing fully integrated interpretative services, combining CSEM/MT, seismic and well data sets. These services are conducted by a highly qualified group of geoscientists. The primary responsibility of this role is to manage the day to day running and administration of the Aberdeen based Data Processing and Integrated Services/Consulting group. Working closely with clients, you will understand their technical requirements, constraints and challenges and provide data processing and technical consulting advice and associated products to aid in the exploration for oil and gas. You will develop and maintain good client relations and ensure that the DP group meets agreed specifications with regard to data quality and turnaround schedule. Client satisfaction is paramount at every stage of the delivery. Responsibilities: Reporting to Chief Operating Officer you will be responsible for and undertake the following: • Working with the Aberdeen Group initially, your primary responsibilities will be to plan for and allocate resources for services projects worldwide, sourcing foreign DP groups in Kuala Lumpur when required. • Ensure the timely and quality completion of projects to the client’s satisfaction. • The management and supervision of services personnel and the sourcing, recruiting, hiring, training and retention of key employees. • Efficient project management ensuring on time and satisfactory delivery of services projects • Ensuring that the DP group meets client specifications and company specifications with regard to data quality and turnaround schedule • Devising and delivery of financial targets for the group in keeping with corporate strategy and the production of accurate revenue forecasts and reports, as required, of finances, status and resource requirements associated with each project. • Feedback and liasing with R&D for technology requirements and trends in the services market. • The maintenance of good client relations through effective reporting and client meetings. • Assist in planning and implementing sales and marketing activities in order to meet company targets for retention growth and profitability according to the Corporate strategy. • Be proactive in developing business with existing and new customers through appropriate propositions and ethical sales methods, relevant internal liaison, optimal quality of service and customer satisfaction. Preferences: The successful candidate will have: • A degree in geophysics or other related technical discipline highly advantageous. • Previous supervisory, team lead OR data processing management experience with the ambition to succeed in this role essential. • Experience of CSEM/MT OR 2D/3D Seismic data processing including depth-velocity modeling and imaging essential. • Experience of land/marine gravity and magnetic data processing advantageous. • Experience of managing integrated studies and related 2D and 3D Interpretation projects would be advantageous • Strong project management skills with the ability to deliver high quality technical services to agreed deadlines essential. • Experience of managing technical staff essential – demonstrate that you can constructively develop and manage a team to achieve objectives. • An outgoing and assertive personality, with the ability to provide effective leadership in a dynamic fast growing environment. • Previous experience in managing or providing consultancy services desirable. • Good resource management experience – make sure resources are available as required (e.g. infrastructure, staff, computers). • Experience in the analysis and interpretation of scientific data desirable • Experience of using industry-standard geophysical data processing software desirable. • Some familiarity with Unix or Linux environments is desirable but not essential. • Good report-writing skills, for internal and external distribution, essential. • Good analytical, problem-solving, skills essential. • Self-sufficient and self motivated, with the ability to work independently. • Customer Service-orientation. • Ability to travel. Package: This is a senior level position and as such a Base Salary of £40K-£55K (GBP) plus an attractive performance related bonus of 20% (providing a potential remuneration of £66K+), plus company benefits is on offer dependent on skills and experience. There is flexibility on base salary for a high calibre candidate. |
