Our client is an IT Services Company operating across a broad range of vertical markets providing Technical and Network Services, Professional & Managed Services throughout Scotland and the UK .
We are currently looking for an MCSE certified Senior Technical Consultant to work within our clients support division. You will use your technical expertise, commercial awareness and experience to provide new and existing clients with innovative solutions to IT related business problems.
These solutions will range from presenting customers with comprehensive IT strategies to detailed technical designs based on VMWare, Citrix, Cisco and Windows infrastructure. In a pre-sales capacity you'll be expected to participate in engaging and building relationships with the customer.
Core to the role is the ability to design and implement VMWare projects, typically 25 man days, covering 6 servers across user groups of circa 150 people.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities:
• To provide a high level of technical expertise to support our business activity
• To gain understanding of our customer s businesses
• To produce technical designs & documentation accurately
• Support clients technical teams in consultancy & design
• To work with Best Practice procedures and products
• Responsible for the documentation framework to qualify detailed Service Delivery designs
• Responsible for providing input to Service Delivery Functional Specifications to demonstrate features/functionality.
• Ownership and Problem Management
Skills:
The ideal candidates will have played a key role in designing and deploying Server architectures for medium-to-large enterprises. Candidates must be able to demonstrate skills in some of the following core technologies:
• VMWare Virtual Infrastructure 3 (Mandatory)
• Citrix Presentation Server
• Cisco Networking
• Windows Server 2003
• Microsoft Active Directory
• Microsoft Exchange 2003
• Microsoft Vista/XP/2000 Client
Education & Experience Requirements
• VMWare/Citrix/Cisco/Microsoft certification in one or more core technologies
• Upwards of 5 years relevant industry experience
Documentation:
Must have experience in and be responsible/accountable for producing the following documentation:
• Pre-sales Documentation
• Functional Specification Documents
• Design/Technical Specification Documents
• Build Documents
• Handover Documentation
Essentials:
• Acceptance that flexibility is an inherent aspect of this role
• The geographic spread of our clients in the UK may necessitate occasional staying away from home during the working week.
