Support Specialist - Software SQL, Unix
Location: Glasgow
Salary: Neg with experience

Reporting to: Support Manager

This applications support role involves working across various software applications and their associated technology environments. Technical; skills will include Unix, Linux, SQL, RDBMS Scripting and a range of monitoring and support tools, some code knowledge is highly prized Java or VB. These are demanding business and technical environments where picking up skills and facing challenges is a daily occurrence.

The client is a software house based in Glasgow City Centre, they have an unrivalled reputation for offering strong career and technical development for high caliber candidates.

EXPERIENCE
We require professional support specialists who can demonstrate 2+ major project assignments. Candidates should be able to demonstrate their input in relation to system reliability, availability and minimised down time. Your technical experience will include Unix (Solaris) and or Linux with some scripting, with commercial exposure to RDBMS with SQL skills ie the ability to read a troubleshoot SQL commands. Additional skills include, some exposure to and understanding of code Java, C++, VB etc.

The focus in this role is not just BAU or maintaining the applications status que, rather there is a strong emphasis on applications improvement, business process improvement and support professionals having an integral role in delivering future applications.

This opportunity will challenge candidates as the applications have high levels of complexity, with a demanding customer base and minimal or in some cases zero down time allowed. Candidates must have an enthusiasm and passion to learn.
