Full Description:
Due to major expansion our client, an engineering service company, is looking to recruit the specialist skills of a workshop manager.
The successful candidate will be working within extensive new fabrication facilities in Dyce, Aberdeen. Joining a team that currently employs over a 100 tradesmen, supported by substantial project engineering and administration staff. Working with high quality plant and equipment the candidate will be working on a diverse range of products and services and taking direct control of the fabrication workshop to ensure that business objectives are met safely.

Key Responsibilities and accountabilities

Management of workshop projects ensuring that delivery dates are achieved
Effective utilisation and maintenance of plant and equipment
Awareness in controlling man hours for commercial and financial efficiency
Efficient utilisation of workshop and yard manpower ensuring adequate resources are available
Maintaining workmanship standards within the workshop - reporting any errors through the Problem Solving system
Maintaining discipline and being accountable for all employees under supervision
Ensuring compliance to manufacturing fabrication procedures
Generating and submitting weekly report
Review performance and competence for all staff under supervision and identify training needs
Customer and supply chain liaison
Implementation of planned preventative maintenance system and upkeep of maintenance records
Compliance with all appropriate regulations/safety requirements
Maintain the Risk Management activity within the workshop and yard areas
Liaise with other staff so as to understand all the necessary aspects and needs of operational development, and to ensure that they are fully informed of operational objectives and achievements
Management and review of apprenticeship programme
Maintain awareness and knowledge of up to date developments in the field of structural and piping fabrication and provide suitable interpretation and advice for action to directors, managers and staff within the company as necessary

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of piping and structural fabrication and must have a minimum of 2 years experience as a workshop manager in a structural or piping environment.
