Full Description:
MY client requires a Principal/Associate level Geotechnical Engineer to join their Geotechnical Design team which forms an integral part of the Rail Team in Glasgow. The successful individual will form part of a busy team in a vibrant office with plenty of scope to develop their career.

Duties will include the following:



· Carry out geotechnical design tasks such as slope stability analysis, rock slope remediation, earth retaining structures, pile design, foundation parameters and retaining wall design etc.

· Project Management

· Mentor and train more junior staff

· Communicate effectively with clients and contactors

· Compile factual and interpretative reports

· Compile earthworks specifications

· Finite Element Analysis

· Financial Control

· Business Development

· Lab test scheduling and interpretation

Due to the nature of this role a driving license is essential, some element of evening and weekend working is also necessary.


Key Competencies

Skills:

Geotechnical Design
Able to log both soil and rock to BS 5930
Scheduling and testing to BS1377
Able to work to budget and timescales
Design Risk Assessment
Mentor and train junior staff
Communicate effectively with clients, contractors and other team staff

Qualifications:

Graduate engineers qualified to BSc (Hons) in Geology, B Eng Civil Engineering or relevant Engineering discipline is required
Preferably an Msc in Engineering Geology or Geotechnical Engineering
PTS desirable but not essential.

Personal Qualities:

Self motivated team player with the ability to work on their own.
Reliable, responsible with proven leadership skills.

Experience:

Extensive experience of Site Investigation, ideally Charted or working towards Chartered status and experienced in the following areas:

Geotechnical Design
Desk studies
Logging soils and rocks to BS5930
Lab test scheduling
SI design and management in the UK,
Contaminated Land/Brownfield investigations and remediation experience preferably
Interpretative reporting,
Financial control
Business Development
Monitoring protocols
Sampling protocols
Slope Stability Analysis
Use or knowledge of Holebase III
Use of knowledge of FE Packages, SlopeW, WALLAP etc
