Health & Safety Consultant in Edinburgh / Glasgow. Established consultancy seeks the above individual due to expansion.
Remit
Work as part of a dedicated health and safety team to deliver health and safety expertise, and training as a consultancy for existing and new clients. In addition, advise the Scottish regional offices on health and safety issues.
1. To proactively promote Health & Safety throughout the Company.
2. To assist in the development and delivery of health and safety related training.
3. To conduct site and office based health and safety audits and inspections.
4. To assist in the promotion of continuous improvement.
5. To be productive on projects where possible
1. Proactive Promotion of Health & Safety throughout the Company
Assist in the promotion of health and safety
Assist in the review of Health and Safety procedures
Promote health, safety, environment best practice and compliance by setting a good example to others.
Assist expertise areas with health and safety within projects and advise on health and safety requirements.
Attend Company health and safety team meetings as required.
Assist in the representation of the Company at external meetings with customers and regulatory bodies on all health and safety matters.
Communicate to all staff the importance of adhering to Health and Safety policies and procedures, in line with company and legislative requirements.
2. The Development & Delivery of Health & Safety Related Training
To assist in the development and deliver in-house training in relation to identified health and safety training needs.To assist in the development and delivery of training to external customers on a fee-paying basis within your capabilities, as and when required.
3. Conducting Site & Office Based Health And Safety Audits & Inspections
Conduct relevant Health, Safety, audits and inspections and audits in line with company and legislative requirements upon Company offices and work activities outside of the office environment.
Produce a written report for each audit/inspection that is conducted, ensuring that deadlines are adhered to and corrective/preventive actions implemented.
Attend Company work sites to monitor and advise employees on safe working practices and quality/environmental best practice.
Report persistent problems in achieving compliance with Health and Safety procedures to the Health and Safety Manager.
When required conduct site inspections upon contractors as requested by customers or on a fee earning basis.
4. Promote continuous improvement
Agree personal learning and development objectives with the Health and Safety Manager and develop your own personal development plan.
Recognise and praise good performance and best practice.
5. To be productive on projects where possible
To assist designers and project managers in health and safety related advice ensuring time is booked to projects where possible, therefore reducing the overhead capacity
7. Adhere to the company Health and Safety Policy and:
Take reasonable care not only of your own health and safety whilst at work but also a duty to protect others who may be affected by your acts or omissions
Cooperate with your employer as far as necessary to enable him to perform his statutory duty
Do not intentionally or recklessly interfere with or misuse anything provided in the interest of health and safety or welfare
Proactively encourage employees under your jurisdiction to work safely and commit to health and safety including training.
You will have a sound and demonstrable knowledge of CDM regulations and construction processes.
